Runestone is a text entry adventure, with landscape style location graphics not unlike those used in Beyond Software’s Lords of Midnight, Doomdark’s Revenge and Sorderon’s Shadow.
The game allows you to switch between different characters during the quest. The parser is fairly standard for an 8-bit adventure, allowing you to pick up items, talk to charcaters, switch to characters and do all of the expected commands.
The game is played in real time, so if you do nothing for a short while then the game responds with 'Time Passes', although whether this means other non-player characters are doing things during that period is unclear.
Runestone is set in the land of Belorn, which is the same land that Druid and Druid 2: Enlightenment are set in. Firebird's Gothik is all about resurrecting Hasrinnax the Druid, and you'll never guess which two games he stars in! Firebird were trying to tie all of their fantasy-based games into one big mythology!
