The first TelecomSoft office was at Wellington House, Upper St. Martin’s Lane in central London. This office building was also used by other British Telecom departments at the time.
The photo shown here was taken in March 2006, twenty years after TelecomSoft left to move into an office just a five minute walk away in New Oxford Street.
So, in June/July 1986, the company moved to the 1st floor of 64-76 New Oxford Street which is where it stayed for the next three years until the sale to MicroProse UK. That sale coincided with the end of the lease on the office.
The first photograph above was taken in September 2000, some 11 years after TelecomSoft last occupied the building. What was the TelecomSoft offices can be seen on the first floor, above the computer shop (Morgan Computers). For those who know central London, the offices were opposite where the Forbidden Planet shop used to be in New Oxford Street, just a few minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Street and Charing Cross. Back in 1988, a tell-tale sign that these were TelecomSoft's offices were the large round 'Carrier Command' stickers stuck to the windows!
The office plan is a reminder of where the various departments were within that office space.
The second photograph was taken in July 2014, and shows a very different and refurbished office compared to the photo from 2000, which was pretty much exactly how the offices looked when TelecomSoft was there.
The handful of employees still working in London (myself included) remained in the New Oxford Street Office for a month or two, but were then moved across London into a one room office located within an office block near Victoria, at Greycoat Place.
The final London office location (shown above in a photo taken in March 2006) was only used for a few months before it too was vacated in mid-October 1989 and the remainder of the company was finally relocated to MicroProse's main offices in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
